The acne is an infection caused by a skin "bacterium propionbacterium acnes" (pacnes), that feed on and breaks down the oil. As the bacteria multiplies, waste products and sebaceous acids are created and irritate the sebaceous gland, which becomes inflamed causing a blackhead, pimple or nodule. How the treatment works? The light targets the p acnes bacteria in the skin, a photodynamic reaction occures, which performs a selective destruction of the bacteria. With successive treatments the rate of acne destruction can become grater than the growth of the bacteria leading to a reduction in the inflamed lessions and can prevent further traumatic scaring. The light is absorbed into the blood vessels, which supply the sebaceous glands. By heating up the capillaries this will reduce the blood flow to the sebaceous glands and decrease the over production of oil in the skin. Treatment plan: -4-6 treatments required, one every 3 weeks -maintanance treatments will be needed in the future to maintain the skin *One month prior to the first treatment is recommended to do a skin care routine with glycolic acid, chemical peel or a microdermabrasion Price: £80/session
